The Experience
A real treat to stay on a working apothecary garden near mystical Glastonbury. This is where botanical scents for Bramley and Fortnum & Mason are nurtured and you’ll arrive to your own bottle of hydrolat for skin care and wellbeing. The colourful garden is open for guests, it’s a serene space with a stone circle, meandering paths and quiet spots to rest in.
You stay in a dinky cabin for two (plus a sofa bed for a little one) with your own terrace and hot tub. The feel is very natural, lots of wood, splashes of colour in stained glass windows and soft furnishings, big doors opening to your outside space. It’s a relaxed kind of place: cosy up in front of the wood-burner, dine under the stars, bubble in the hot tub.
They also host retreats, workshops, training events if you want to get involved. Otherwise Glastonbury and its marvellous Tor are close by, Wells and the stunning cathedral not much further.

Local points of interest from Richard Howard
- The Chalice Well Gardens - A joyous garden to be nourished and healed. Take off your shoes and walk in the icy spring waters and feel revived.
- The White Spring - Opposite the Chalice Well is The White Spring a sacred fresh water spring set in a cavernous Victorian well house. Take your towel for a dip or just sit and close your eyes to sink into the ambience of this space.
- The Tor - Climb to the top of the hill in the garden and you’ll see the Tor. Incredible for Sunrise or Sunset. If you’d like a more intimate encounter, a pilgrimage is highly recommended.
- Somerset Rural Life Museum - Situated just below Glastonbury Tor the Museum is a unique heritage attraction on the site of the former Abbey Farm. Here you can explore rural life from the 1800s onwards and discover more about the county’s heritage.
- Wookey Hole Caves - Millions of years in the making, delight in the history, geology and legend of Wookey Hole Caves and explore these beautiful underground caverns.
- Cheddar Gorge - Cheddar Gorge is not only one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks, but also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Introducing
Richard Howard
Owner Richard makes the botanical scents for Bramley and Fortnum & Mason, as well as producing organic hydrolats, macerates, extracts and infusions. They host a varied programme of music, making, learning, feasting, medicine and land tending so there may be other people using the garden and guests in the other properties.
A really unique space in a lovely setting. I enjoyed learning about apothecary and smelling the herbs and flowers that are grown in the grounds.
