The Old Swan

The 'Old Swan' is an ideal property for our '3 Generation + Dog' annual holiday. Many happy hours have been spent around the kitchen table and in the very comfortable lounge. The house is warm and well equipped with ample sleeping accommodation for all. Sherston is a friendly village with a well stocked shop and an excellent dining pub.We can recommend the 'Shallowbrook Lane' and 'The Cliff' walks although in autumn take care, and wear waterproof footwear!

Myself and a group of friends have just booked our third stay in Old Swan House. We love it The house is spacious, charming and well equipped and the location is excellent The property is literally a few steps away from a cafe, an excellent pub/restaurant and a small but impressively stocked shop. There’s lots to do and see in the area including a number of walks The owner of Swan House has helpfully left a list of 10 of the best We completed five on our last visit and are returning to tackle the remainder later this year.

Wow! We really enjoyed our stay at the Swan. We are visiting from the U.S. and were amazed that the inn is older than our country! Super convenient location for our visit to Bath and we enjoyed discovering Malmesbury and Tetbury. Loved the Rattlebone (and his story!) Rupert left super detailed, helpful recommendations. It was a wonderful visit.

Our family had a wonderful time in „The Old Swan“, an old charming Inn with with a super-equipped kitchen and cozy rooms. We did great hikes in the area and cooked together in the evening and felt like at home. Rupert gave us great tips and all communication with him was easy and uncomplicated. Sherston is an ideal base for touring the Cotswolds and its beautiful gardens. We love to come back! 😊

Fabulous cottage !! A decent pub 200 yards down the road, a lovely cafe next door, a co-op over the road should be forget or urgently need something and centrally located for exploring all that The Cotswolds has to offer, what more could you ask for? We loved the village (everyone is very friendly) and had many days out, without having to travel too far. We have already booked to go again next year, as there was so many things we wanted to do, but just didn't have time for. Highly recommended..........

We had a lovely long weekend at Old Swan with my sister and enjoyed several local eateries - we meet her for a gourmet weekend every year. The cottage is a beautiful property and superbly equipped. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you so much.

Very clean well equipped cottage. Rupert provided everything in abundance. Kitchen had everything we needed. There were many places to walk to and the scenery was amazing. The Indian restaurant nearby had many tasty dishes. We also went for a meal to Whatley manor which was very nice.

Lovely well equipped house. A convenient and well stocked co-op/post office across the road and the very welcoming (and welcome !!) Rattlebone Inn a few minutes walk away. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

This was one of the best holidays that my friends and I have been on, and we have been on a few. Extremely well equipped and comfortable cottage in a wonderful location. Village walks were perfect to start and end each day, and we found many dog friendly things to do each day within a short drive of the cottage. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to family and friends.

Hi Rupert - I just wanted to say it was a real treat staying at your house. Us poor things living in Chelsea have to get out into the countryside quite often and so frequently book cottages through Sawdays! Without question yours has been the best because of your hospitality: not for you half a loo roll, 2 dishwasher tabs, a hastily made cake to make up for a lack of generosity elsewhere. The abundant fruit, fresh cut flowers and a pantry well stocked with staples (not that we did much cooking with all the pub/restaurant choices you gave) made it a real pleasure. Thank you.

A very comfortable base, in a grade II* former C16th coaching inn, smack back in the middle of a thriving Cotswold village, with everything on your doorstep. What's not to love?

A wonderful cottage in a brilliant location, the owner (Rupert) has worked hard to ensure that there's plenty of information about what to do locally and there's a very good supply of local maps to help find a walk that will suit all ages and abilities.
