The Experience
A hugely comfortable getaway, restored and well designed with a mix of family antiques, paintings and pictures and some elegant modern touches. Downstairs is a lovely drawing room with a wood-burner, an open-plan dining room and a chef’s delight of a kitchen with every bell and whistle imaginable. Doors open from here to a terrace with plantation chairs, a large table, outdoor fire, Big Green Egg and a hidden-away cedar hot tub. Sunbathe or play games on the lawn, nip into the hot tub with a glass of wine.
Bedrooms are spacious, with views. Two doubles are en suite and the others (one can be a twin) share a bathroom. All have Hypnos mattresses and well-dressed beds.
Look after yourselves or order delicious breakfast hampers and hire a chef to spoil you – details are provided when you book. You are encouraged to explore the estate – find a Roman bridge, a tower on a hill, monuments, caves and ponds – along with 20km of walking and cycling trails.
