The Experience
Come for the great outdoors and stunning views: mighty Cadair Idris looms behind you, the wide Mawddach estuary sweeps in front. You’re off the main road in one of four Victorian slate mill cottages, now converted into warm and comfortable holiday homes. Cheerful Sarah, who runs a thriving B&B next door, greets you, and can organise for local fresh veg to be delivered if you’d like, and she will cook you breakfast at her house if there is room! Families will be happy here with sociable outdoor spaces, bonfires and barbecues in the summer, but couples will enjoy it too – from your large and light sitting room you have a gorgeous view, a comfy sofa, Welsh blankets and calming colours (seekers of quirk must go elsewhere). Cooks will approve of the kitchen – neat as a pin and with all you need. Upstairs are two bedrooms, both with attractive blankets and dreamy views; the bathroom, with proper bath for aching limbs, is spotless. A small courtyard garden at the front is a grand spot for a sundowner, Sarah is on hand for any advice and you really do have a vast playground around you: woods, walks, cycling, watery stuff, castles, mountains and more.

Had a lovely first stay. Gorgeous view and amazing facilities. We loved the pizza night and honesty ice-creams. Lots to do in the area: enjoyed walking the Mawddach Trail, crabbing at Aberdyfi, swimming at Cymer Abbey and horse-trekking

Wow! What can I say? Beautiful location, peaceful setting and walks from the door. The views from the upstairs windows were glorious - I could have happily sat up there all day. Everything about the place was welcoming - the emails before we arrived to us being there and after when we had left. The app was so useful and we had two great meals out thanks to it; one at a place that if I hadn’t had the app, would possibly have just driven past.. Thank you Sarah and John for a fab stay even though it wasn’t as I planned courtesy of being poorly..

What a beautiful gem of a place. Perfectly located for walking in the Welsh hills with our dog Lexi. The accommodation has the most amazing views whatever the weather. We loved our little house. Perfect for a family of 4 with a dog. You can walk out of the door directly into beautiful country side. The owners are so helpful - with plenty ideas of where to go and what to do. Whether you love walking, bike riding or getting onto the water - there is something for everyone here. Very highly recommended.

what a splendid place to stay. Beautiful views and so much to do - hills, sea, and narrow gauge railways. And the camping looks superb too.

This sympathetically converted slate shed offers stunning views of an ever changing spectacular landscape. The seclusion and privacy made it a great location for drawing and painting. A variety of walks were possible from the door; coastal, woodland and moorland.

Really enjoyed our visit despite 2 dreadful days weather. Little Haven is in a lovely portion overlooking the estuary and well placed for walking, cycling and sight seeing. The accommodation is both very clean and comfortable. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

Pleasant cottage with stunning views over the Mawddach estuary and a nice sheltered spot for bbqing etc. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful when we had a slight glitch with the heating and sorted us out almost immediately! The site has good access to the very attractive market town of Dolgellau and to Barmouth too.we found some great bike trials nearby and the Lakes of Cregennan are a must visit. Thanks for our stay.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Sarah Heyworth
- Direct access to exceptionally scenic Mawddach Trail linking seaside Barmouth and historic Dolgellau. Walk or cycle along the flat waterside Mawddach Trail and over the iconic railway viaduct to Barmouth.
- It's hard to miss the owls, house-martins and other birds right outside the door, but there's also 2 RSPB reserves within walking distance. In late spring and summer visit two Osprey breeding centres within 45 minutes drive.
- There's a safe sandy beach within 5 minutes drive (or 40 minutes along the traffic free bike trail) which is family and dog friendly. You can even go horse-riding on the beach too for fabulous estuary views.
- Cadair Idris is a spectacular mountain on the doorstep and far quieter than Yr Wyddfa/ Snowdon which is an hour's drive. Many walks for all abilities close by including the Mawddach Trail as featured on BBC TV's "Railway Walks"
- Harlech Castle, the beautiful Italianate village of Portmeirion, ZipWorld, and 4 steam railways including the famous Ffestiniog Railway are all within 45 minutes drive or less.
- The attractive traditonal market town of Dolgellau is just 5 miles away, with its host of independent shops, cafes, delis and excellent places to eat out. You'll hear the Welsh language spoken here and will find a very warm welcome.

The views alone are worth 11/10 but paired with a really comfy cosy cottage, great kitchen, top shower it’s hard to beat. The local area is now one of my favourites to visit plus being able to jump straight on the Mawddach Trail makes for some lovely walks straight from the doorstep
