Lavinsotte

Lavinsotte is a truly wonderful place - nestled in the rolling countryside and so peaceful. The house is full of beautiful antiques and textiles, and everything practical has been thoughtfully considered for guests. There are plenty of lovely local towns and markets to visit and local walks, but we spent a lot of time at the pool relaxing. I would unreservedly recommend this holiday home!

Lavinsotte will remain in our hearts and memories forever. A perfect setting amongst the rolling hills and glowing fields of sunflowers, Lavinsotte is a charming French gite in its own 2 acre setting with salt water pool, framed by five cedar trees which overlook the neighbouring farmer’s field. Bill, a convivial host, invited us for drinks one night; otherwise, he’s around with a cheery wave or quick chat. We had a gorgeous holiday there with friends and family. A beautiful part of France.

Lavinsotte is a seductive haven of peace and tranquility in the northern part of the Lot et Garonne region of France. The gite is a comfortable and beautifully converted barn attached to the owner's property, furnished with great taste. It's off the beaten track, and it was lovely to spend time there enjoying the sounds of nature, wonderful rural views, the refreshing pool (not shared), and visits to the enchanting bastide towns and villages nearby. Our dog was free to enjoy exploring the expansive gardens and we appreciated the warm welcome from Bill, the owner. Highly recommended.

Our fourth visit to Lavinsotte and still our favourite holiday venue. This time we discovered a new restaurant in Bergerac, 'Le Bistro d'en face', recommended by Bill; it was perfect on both occasions. Our family guests were first time visitors and were equally entranced, both by the gite and surrounding area. Thank you, Bill. A la prochaine......

Just back from a 2 week stay in this wonderful Gite, the nicest we have ever stayed in. It is in the most beautiful place, surrounded by countryside and woodland. We were lucky enough to watch deer and their young from one of the terraces. The pool was perfect and very welcome on the hot days. Even though it is off the beaten track, the Gite is within easy reach of so many stunning villages with great markets. Bill was a great host and very knowledgeable about the area, his marmalade and nice wines were very much appreciated. We hope to return.

We had a wonderful 10 days at Lavinsotte in September 22 - we were warmly welcomed by Bill and very much appreciated his hospitality (and marmalade!) The property had everything we needed and more, and we particularly enjoyed being in such a quiet place and being able to sit in the different garden areas, as well as wandering out into the surrounding countryside, listening to birds and watching butterflies. We visited a number of beautiful medieval villages and the market at Villreal, and definitely recommend taking advantage of Bill’s suggestions for meals out – we ate very well!

We have just returned home after a fortnight’s stay at Lavinsotte. This was our third visit to this beautiful gite situated in the bucolic wonders of the Lot region. We couldn’t wait to be back in France at Lavinsotte after a break of two years; to our delight, all was as we remembered: hugely comfortable beds, an excellent supply of novels, family games for both indoors and out, a very well equipped kitchen, a fabulous saline swimming pool and of course, our host, Bill, next door. Each of our stays has seen us sharing an evening altogether and sampling the regional wine and food. Sublime!

We have been holidaying in France for over 25 years and Lavinsotte is absolutely the best property we have stayed at with our four teens to early twenties daughters. The property has multiple verandahs and terraces, a fabulous pool (with diving board!) and a lovely character-full open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. Bill is the perfect host nearby for any queries or advice. Lots to do and see in the area too.

Beautiful Gite in lovely French Antique style with lovely pool and gardens. Wonderful location - peace and quiet with just the sound of the birds and the hum of bees! Lots of fantastic medieval villages within short drives. Lovely friendly hosts too!
