The Experience
There’s a 5m-long table for breakfast, a sand pitch for boules, a 20m infinity pool for swims, beds brimful of lavender, and unsurpassable views. Marc and Berenice, warm, welcoming and well-travelled, took early retirement to follow a dream: a house in the sun in Provence. Built on a hillside, it has thick walls, ancient tiles, restored doors, masses of light. The entrance and bedrooms are on the first floor and the living areas (subtle lights, low sofas) are below, opening to delicious lawns and pergola. Imagine limestone floors, pure white bathrooms, neutral colours with accents of rust-red, and galleried suites for families.

My fiance and I have just returned from our third holiday at La Couleur Des Vignes, being looked after by the wonderful Marc and Berenice. They are so friendly and helpful and their home is truly beautiful and set in the most magnificent scenery with incredible views. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. There is a lovely swimming pool and games room and lots of outdoor space to sit and relax in. We arrived by train to Avignon TGV and rented a car at the station. The drive took just under an hour and is very easy to find.

Being accustomed to the standards of Sawday selected properties, the home and hospitality of Marc and Berenice at Les Couleurs proved to be quite exceptional, and a great delight over a stay of five days. It has a truly captivating character that is unique in so many ways, including the the very rural unmade track that threads through the forest and down into the valley that adds to the sense of seclusion , privacy and privilege bestowed by this wonderful home and ones delightful hosts.

A truly wonderful home in the Luberon, Marc and Berenice have created/renovated a 'grand design' style house with wonderful welcoming rooms for guests. The pool area has some of the most amazing views in the region, the gardens are beautiful and very well established. The breakfasts, served on a lovely terrace overlooking the valley were superb. Marc and Berenice were very efficient at responding to emails/phone calls and helping with setting up restaurant reservations and village market recommedations. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us for a few days.

We had the most wonderful time at Couleur des Vignes. We had very efficient and friendly replies from Marc with regard to the booking and payment. There was a very warm reception on the first day and very good advice on where to go, especially the restaurants, Berenice booked them for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We had marvellous breakfasts on the wonderful terrace. The property has been beautifully designed, the bedrooms very chic and the grounds are superb. Thank you Berenice for taking me to the market. We hope to return. Forgot to mention the swimming pool......it's great!

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Marc & Bérénice van der Elst
- In the heart of the Provence, lost in the middle of vineyards and cherry trees, “La Couleur des Vignes” offers an amazing view on the surrounding country and the famous perched villages of Luberon, such as Lacoste, Goult, Gordes.
- As a couple, between friends, in family or if you are a sporty person, you will be welcome all year round. The mas has a pleasant underfloor heating system with Burgundy stone you will appreciate during winter.
- The 20 meters heated infinity pool, not far from the house, is the perfect place to swim a few lengths while admiring the magnificent view. But be careful: although secured by a shutter, none of the pools are supervised.
- You will be delighted by Aix and Avignon’s cultural and gastronomic wealth. Local and fresh products are to be found in the farmers’ marketsstanding in a different village every day.
- Sporty activities ? You will be spoilt for choice : idleness next to the pool, table tennis, boules, bike, electric bike, hikes, golf, climbing – Buoux’ cliffs – hike in snowshoes on the Mont Ventoux, etc…
- The region is so beautiful that it has been a source of inspiration for several writers (Peter Mayle, Camus) and film directors such as Ridley Scott (“A Good Year” with Russel Crowe, Marion Cotillard) or Pagnol (“The Well Digger’s Daughter”).

A very memorable stay in the most beautiful location. Marc and Berenice were the kindest and most generous hosts who served the most delicious breakfasts, provided help and support to my elderly parents, offered great tips on the local area and were so welcoming we didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back! Oh and the swimming pool and the views.....!
