The Experience

Wake to a proper cooked breakfast, and a day of adventure in Les Portes du Soleil. The hotel’s minibus takes you to the lifts, for gentle tree-lined pistes shared with Les Gets, and innumerable forays beyond.

The enchanting Mas de la Coutettaz, the oldest building in Morzine, lies at the quiet end of town, a short walk from shops, cafes and après ski bars. James and his team go above and beyond to make each homecoming special, from afternoon tea and cakes by the crackling fire, to dinner at the huge table. Look forward to a four-course ‘menu fixe’ every evening with wine, illuminated by candelabras. Chocolates and coffees follow… and Dorrien joins in whenever he can.

Bedrooms, big, quirky and characterful, lie at the top of the stone stair; go for a mountain view. Beds are super comfortable, soaps are from L’Occitane, and staff have oodles of charm.

Reviews

We have visited The Farmhouse frequently since 2006. Once again we can only say it is the best and most friendly and service minded place to stay in the Alps. The staff manage to create a feeling of being at home.

Mats, Stockholm

We got married at The Farmhouse on February 23rd and we do not believe there is a better venue in the World. James helped us with so many elements of our planning for months before the wedding and nothing was too much trouble. The Farmhouse itself is absolutely stunning and the service from the entire team is exceptional. They have managed to find the perfect balance between a 5* professional service that also feels completely personal. The food was phenomenal, not just on the wedding day but for every other meal of our stay. We could not fault anything and cannot wait to go back!

KATE, NEWARK

This was our third stay. There are so many reasons why we keep coming back - the charm and character of the Farmhouse, the comfort of the rooms, the generous and delicious food and drink, the friendliness of staff who are all genuinely committed to making sure guests are happy, the ideal central location in Morzine, .... the list goes on. But most of all it is the uniquely relaxed and friendly atmosphere that pervades everything.

Caroline, London

Fantastic. This was our third stay and we come back for a reason. If you want service then it doesn't get any better. The food is 'top notch' and the accommodation individually stylised.

JIM, Holywood

Simply outstanding. Wonderful people, superb food and excellent hospitality. We will be back.

Simon, Richmond

The Farmhouse has exceptional personal service and a lovely friendly atmosphere. Great building in an excellent location. Highly recommend!

Kate, Burton on Trent

We were a group of 6 friends and this was our first tie staying t the Farmhouse having previously dined there. It was a flawless experience, from being met at Geneva and whisked up to Morzine, through settling into extremely comfortable and well appointed rooms, before being taken up to the lifts. On Return we were met with delicious cakes and cookies, before a pause and then to dinner which was a sumptuous affair. Everyone dines together giving you the chance to share & swap stories of the day on the piste while feasting on multiple courses of serious restaurant quality food & wine.

Simon, Guildford

From the minute you are collected from airport to being returned, you are looked after with first class service, first class staff, first class food and great fun times. An amazing dining room and many hours around the fire and bar - meeting lots of new people, the best holiday, most wonderful building too! Led by a great team.

Jenny, Colchester

The Farmhouse is a fabulous place and James, Dorrien and Di are super, warm hosts. The whole place, from bedrooms to bar to living room, is comfy, cosy and relaxed. A perfect base from which to cycle and explore the area!

Location

The neighbourhood

The farmhouse sits at the foot of the Col de Joux Plane, with an Olympic size pool and leisure centre down the road. The nearest lifts are Le Pleney, 600m, and Super Morzine, 1km - gateways to Les Portes du Soleil. The local slopes cover 120km of gentle piste, shared with the resort Les Gets. If you're a freestyle fan, head for Avoriaz: with 11 snow parks it will get the adrenaline flowing.

Local points of interest from Dorrien Ricardo

  • In the winter months Morzine offers one of the best ski areas in the world. Les Portes du Soleil is a major ski sports destination in the Alps, encompassing thirteen resorts between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
  • The Morzine leisure centre is just down the road from us. This is an Olympic size swimming pool, giant 80 metre water slide, bouncy castle, beach volley ball, indoor pool and spa with saunas and Turkish baths.
  • Fantasticable: This is the only zip wire of its kind in the Alps. Two 1,200 metres cables which shoot you across the Plaine Dranse valley and back again. At one point you are 240 metres from the valley floor! A must for any adrenaline junkie!
  • The beautiful lake Montriond is well worth visiting. Whether it be to walk around it, swim in it, paddle through it or just soak up the sunshine. Features:

Introducing

Dorrien Ricardo

Dorrien moved to France in 1982, and fell in love with Morzine in 1990. On discovering that this beautiful dilapidated farmhouse was up for sale, he succeeded in buying it three years later. Manager James arrived in 2008, leaving the world of finance behind. Together with Di, Dorrien's wife, they're warm natural hosts who know how to make guests feel at home.
