The Experience
Lush nature meets careful building preservation (on top of an ancient cave settlement) and wonderfully eccentric design. At every turn: recycled bric-a-brac and old farm pieces; beautiful Lecce stone floors and whitewashed tufo limestone; mood lighting, hidden gardens, secret pathways… It’s a family affair: the Monteneves live on the estate, where craftsmen also ply their trades, and son Giuliano is your dynamic host.
Cool, individual bedrooms – handmade furniture, hand-stitched lace, billowing drapes, white fireplaces, generous armchairs – are to each side of the imposing main villa with doors straight to the garden and paths to the grand, oval salt water pool, the sea beyond. Food is taken seriously and is mainly organic; breakfasts are sublime, as are the wines made on the estate.
Breakfasts are a superb spread and the dinner experience in the vineyard is not to be missed – with their own red and rosé wines. Head to the Herbarium for a mind/body experience second to none. This is a very spoiling place.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're between hills, the sea and ancient olive groves so walks will be blissful. The whole area is steeped in history including caves for those involved in a skirmish to hide in and towers for protecting the coast from the Ottomans. Fasano is 10 minutes in the car for restaurants, culture and shops. Visit magical Locorotondo for the best white wine, Polignano a Mare for a fish lunch with a view.
Local points of interest from Giuliano Monteneve
- Alberobello is part of the Unesco World Heritage because of its Trulli. The trullo is an ancient dry-stone dwelling with a conical roof, of protohistoric origins, which can be found exclusively in central-southern Puglia.
- The white city of Ostuni is one of the most stunning views as it rises from the landscape. Rambling through its little streets, we are taken aback by the houses, which give the impression of having been grafted into one another.
- Cisternino is famous for its butchers where you can try juicy “bombette” (made with pork), a local delicacy.
- Locorotondo, the Locus Rotundus with its circular shape, and its narrow soaring houses, which remind us a little of Dutch houses. In summer the town becomes centre stage for many important international musicians at the Locus Festival.
- The historical center of Martina Franca with its baroque churches is also worth a visit - a town with ‘musical vocation’, home to the Paolo Grassi Foundation - which every year organises the Festival della Valle d’Itria, dedicated to Opera music.
- Polignano a Mare is also worth a visit, where the famous singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno came from. A fascinating town built on the Cliffside, well known for its ice cream and “caffè speciale di Polignano” (special Polignano coffee).

Introducing
Giuliano Monteneve
Giuliano and Alessandra have created a place where you can experience authentic southern Italy in style. Giuliano's parents bought the masseria in 1999 and after a period of being abandoned, this energetic young couple have restored it to life.
The Masseria is an authentic Apulian experience that I’d recommend to everyone visiting this region - It’s immersed between millennial olive trees, figs and a vineyard. At every corner you can find hidden gems of rustic art-crafts created with rural tools. The vineyard dinner experience at sunset time is truly magic! The sea-salt swimming pool is an oasis for some “dolce far niente” life-style. The food at the restaurant by the pool is delicious and the olive oil gin is something to not miss. I loved it! This land evokes great and memorable emotions - This place makes your stay a dream!
