The Experience
In southern Puglia, right down in the heel of Italy, an unpretentious hilltop agriturismo B&B in an historic masseria surrounded by orchards and olive groves. Francesco and his wife returned from Milan to rejuvenate an old family farm and have created an authentic, charming retreat of unfussy rooms around a central courtyard. They are attentive but discreet hosts with an eye for detail. Whitewashed walls, tiled floors and sturdy wooden furniture set the tone. Bathrooms are modern with mosaic walls. Simplicity is the order of the day: yellow and white check tablecloths, geraniums in terracotta pots, rough-hewn stone walls overhung by large prickly pear plants. Breakfasts of fresh local breads, cheese and fruit are served in the dining room or loggia. Borrow a bike and explore coastal tracks, take a boat ride, or visit the beaches of Gallipoli. Pop into town for shops and restaurants: Tricase is just 3km away, then wind down in front of the fire in the open-arched communal living room, the silence broken only by the sound of cicadas. If you’re looking for a calming, uncluttered escape, you’ll love it!

Very happy and pleasant stay. The spacious rooms were super clean, and well appointed with the wine being a classy option. Breakfasts were perfect, different every day. Nice quiet spots to relax, and the tables in the field were our favorite. Francesco and Paola were the best ever hosts, and all their restaurant tips came good. One tip! Maybe have some background music during breakfast. I get that you want a quiet vibe, but it would give a nice atmospheric lift!

This is a truly special rural B & B surrounded by olive groves and farming land. Being so quiet and peaceful it is easy to slip away and find a spot to read and absorb your surroundings. Francesco and Paola are charming hosts who genuinely care, nothing is too much trouble and they provide everything you need plus lots of local advice and recommendations. Wake early to see misty mornings and fall asleep listening to owls. Rooms are unique and spotlessly clean and breakfasts are traditional and delicious. A car is a must as there are loads of fabulous beaches and coves to find - perfection!

Excellent stay in a lovely masseria We had a great time at Masseria Uccio. The room was nice and spacious and tastefully furnished, overlooking a lovely courtyard. The owners, Paola and Francesco, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Breakfast , which was served outdoors in the covered patio, was excellent: there was plenty to choose from such as home made yoghurt , cakes, fresh fruit and preserves and every day something new to try. Nothing pre packed. Highly recommended.

Francesco and Paola were the best hosts we could wish for. Our family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) stayed in the Lamia which was perfect. It was clean and perfect for our needs. Breakfast was delightful. Served in a shady courtyard there was plenty of local and home baked produce. The freshly picked tomatoes, plums, figs and prickly pears especially wonderful for a city dwelling family like ours. Francesco went out of his way to give us daily recommendations and booking things for us to do. It's easy to access with a car and we drove to several gorgeous local beaches during our week's stay.

Peace and tranquility in Puglia Masseria Uccio was the perfect way to start our 19 day holiday in Italy. In fact, we wish we had spent all 19 days there rather than just 7. From even before we arrived Francesco and Paola were super helpful in providing the exact location of the Masseria, and answered any questions. We were so warmly welcomed by them and of course Walter the resident dog and we felt immediately at home. The room was spotless and very well appointed. The bed super comfortable with lovely linen. The bathroom was excellent and a decent size. The breakfasts were AMAZING!

Masseria Uccio is a lovely place. The hosts Francesco and Paola are very kind and helpful yet not intrusive. The accommodation is of a high standard - good air conditioning, well equipped, stylish and very clean. Every morning, breakfast had different options - fresh produce, homemade cakes, pastries and yoghurt. Masseria Uccio is a very calm, relaxing place to spend a holiday away from the bustle of modern life.

My wife and I spend our Honeymoon at Masseria Uccio. It is such a special place and we shall always remember our stay. Francesco and Paola were wonderful hosts - they made us feel so welcome. They were so welcoming and it felt like home away from home. The breakfasts are amazing - every morning I would look forward to the cake of the day while having breakfast in the courtyard. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The location is great too if you want to base yourself there and explore beaches and surrounding areas. Highly recommended.
