The Experience
Husband-and-wife team Damiano and Adriana (chef and hostess respectively) returned to their hometown to open this highly regarded restaurant with rooms, set in a restored mansion in the centre of town.
The uniquely decorated bedrooms are on different floors, each with a sitting room. Breakfast is served in the bright atrium and includes fresh ricotta, local cheeses, prosciutto, fresh bread and pastries. Lunch is on request; dinner features tasting menus with an international twist, accompanied by a vast selection of Sicilian wines (a glass floor in reception gives you a peek into the cellar). Don’t miss the chance to get cooking lessons from Damiano if you can.
Nearby is the untouched coastline of the Natural Reserve di Torre Salsa and the ruins of an ancient Greek village at Eraclea Minoa; the Valle dei Templi archaeological site is 30km away and Scala dei Turchi, a scenic rocky cliff with steps leading into the sea, is 18km.

Location
The neighbourhood
The wine-coloured palazzo dates from 1850 and stands out in a row of ordinary cement houses in the small town of Montallegro, where you'll find some basic shops but also a very good one called Tadaro, which sells cheese made from the sheep that graze nearby pastures. The nearest towns are Sciacca to the west and Agrigento to the east, both 30km away.
Local points of interest from Damiano & Adriana Baglio
- For those who love the most intimate places in Sicily and refined local tastes this is the right place. The Chapter Primo restaurant is the ideal destination to spend a pleasant stay while enjoying chef Damiano's 'Gourmand' creations.
- Taking part in a cooking and wine lesson led by chef Damiano Ferraro, completed with a final tasting is an activity not to be missed for those who are curious and passionate about food and wine. It will be a gastronomic experience of the highest levels.
- Among the scents of the Mediterranean and the song of the cicadas from the pine forest, the turquoise beauty of the sea opens up to the eyes. A fragment of paradise where you can be pampered by the melody of the waves and the caress of the sun.
- For nature and sea lovers, about ten km away from Montallegro there are the WWF Nature Reserves of Torre Salsa and Foce del Platani where it is possible to follow nature trails with long walks among the Mediterranean.
- In the morning our guests can start their day with a rich and tasty breakfast, served in the winter garden and carefully chosen of both sweet and savoury delicacies. Breakfast at Relais Briuccia is a true Food Experience.
- We believe so much in sustainability and seasonality. Our cuisine focuses on organic ingredients grown by small local producers and beyond and we pay particular attention to Vegan and Vegetarian diets.

Introducing
Damiano & Adriana Baglio
Damiano and Adriana live in an apartment down the street but are available at any time of day and they love to help guests plan their itineraries. They both grew up in Montallegro and have fond childhood memories of playing in what was then an abandoned palazzo. After illustrious careers in cuisine and hospitality around the world, they moved back to their hometown with their children in 2007.
What an amazing experience to stay at Relais Briuccia & eat at Capitolo Primo! The mansion is absolutely gorgeous & decorated with such style. The tasting menu at dinner was an exquisite feast prepared by Damiano, adapted for our various food preferences. Each course absolutely delicious & stunningly presented. Adriana is a charming host, who made the experience all the more special. Breakfast was also divine. We're so pleased we chose Relais Briuccia as our base to visit the Valley of the Temples. Very special & excellent value. We shall definitely return for a cooking course with Damian
