The Experience

Step off the vaporetto and you’re all but home, it’s that simple. You’ll feel so smug staying here: this airy and stylish flat doesn’t need to show off – the huge picture window overlooking the Giudecca Canal does all the talking.

The view is pure Venice and it’s tempting to sit all day in the pristine, pared back living area watching the light on the water, the passing boats, the locals going about their business. Stroll to the café next door, eat Venetian dishes, visit churches.

Giudecca is a little gem of an island, where Venetians still live, work and relax away from the hurly burly – but a quick boat ride puts you in the middle of one of the most famous, romantic and architecturally tantalising cities in the world. This is Venice the easy, breezy way.

Reviews

This is a wonderful place to stay, the hosts are superb and the location could not be better. An amazing view of St Mark’s without all of the crowds. The bedrooms are very quiet and the flat is very well equipped. The vaporetto runs throughout the night too. The cafe next door serves delicious croissants and omelettes for breakfast too.

This apartment is truly exceptional. State of the art equipment, 2 air conditioners in the living room and one in each room. The view is absolutely stunning. The apartment is very close to a vaporetto stop. A supermarket is nearby. Really close to San Marco (3 mn by boat) but without the hustle of the crowds of tourists. We absolutely loved our stay and we will come back. Thank you Marica, Rossella and Anna. A dream apartment, really.

I stayed 4 nights in the house and it was more than I expected. Warm welcoming by the host, fully furnished and clean, and the location. I bit worried about the location before arriving at the house, but as soon as I arrive, then I realized the it must be the perfect location if you want to stay in calm away from tourists but at the same time you need to get to city center in 10 minutes.

What a wonderful stay !!! The appartment is just perfect with the great view on Venise. We had a great moment by sitting on the sofa and look throw the big window. Best location on Giudecca calm and peaceful and next to Zitelle Vaporeto's stop where we can go to downtown directly only in 5 mn. Thank you Antonella for her kind recommendation on restaurants and hang out in Venise. We intensely recommend this magic appartment !!! Pisey & Fred

Location

The neighbourhood

The island of Giudecca is 20 minutes by vaporetto from Venice station. Breakfast at the cheery quayside café next door: there are three good restaurants a short walk away, and you’re just 300m from a supermarket, greengrocer and bakery. The landmarks of Venice may be calling across the water, but three of Palladio’s churches, Zitelle, Redentore and San Giorgio are on your turf, as is Casa dei Tre Oci, the city’s only photo gallery.

Local points of interest from The Bartolomeo Sisters

  • In the island of Giudecca there are several nice cafes where you can rest, sit and talk, write your postcards or reading a book overlooking the Canal and San Mark's basin
  • At just few minutes walking you will find 2 very nice restaurants, La Palanca with typical venetian dishes at an affordable price and Le Botti with very great Pizza and grill!
  • Don't miss the closest Museum of Photography "Casa dei tre Oci" and the wonderful church of "Redentore" designed by Andrea Palladio in 1500. Both sites are at few steps from the house.
  • Take the waterbus n.2 at the stop of Zitelle and get off at the first stop, the island of San Giorgio. You will find a real pearl, silent, far from the crowd but full of beauties.
  • In San Giorgio don't miss a visit to the Church, the Cini Museum and the top of the tower bell from which you can have a 360° view of the city, even better and surely less stressing then the San Mark's tower bell ...
  • Last but not least in the island of San Giorgio don't miss a visit to Le Stanze del Vetro, open from spring to autumn, the most interesting museum of design glass of the city. And the entrance is free!!!

Introducing

The Bartolomeo Sisters

Sisters Marica, Rossella and Anna live in Padua, but always wanted to find a holiday home in Venice. After years of searching, one of the sister’s husbands heard of an apartment on Giudecca that was up for auction. The sisters fell in love as soon as they saw it – the flat needed a lot of work, but the stunning view made it all worthwhile. Now they want guests to enjoy Venice as much as they do.
