The Experience
A mere 15 miles from Málaga, Sierra de Camarolos unfolds behind an unadulterated scene of olive groves and almond trees; the peace is incredible. A giant cork oak marks your entry onto the walled patio and a covered walkway leads you to your own casita, bordered by wildflowers and trim cacti. These four casitas – Indian, Sultan, Oriental, Arizona – have been conceived with zen-like lines.
Slippers and robes are provided, and there’s even a mini cinema room and honesty bar exclusively for guests in the Oriental suite. The fridge is packed full of goodies from Manchego cheese to strawberries, while hot croissants and fresh bread are delivered to your door each morning. There’s a yoga pavilion, gym and meditation space, a unique sunken bathhouse where you can have a Dead Sea salt soak, massage or treatment.
Their harvests produce organic olive oil, botanicals, almonds, soap and spa products. The food is simply fabulous too.

My friend and I had the most wonderful long weekend at this gorgeous escape from busy lives. The setting is perfect, the accommodation perfect with every amenity and kitchen equipment you could wish for. We loved the plunge pool, the beautiful walks picking pomegranates (only 1 promise!) and the 3 course dinners sublime. The wine was really good value too! What more could you wish for and only 30 mins from Malaga airport. Will be back

Introducing
the Owners
Helen is an award-winning chef and heads up the team. She and her architect husband conceived this agrotourism project in the early 2000s, spending six years building the hotel from scratch with the help of local craftsmen before finally opening their doors to guests.
It doesn't happen often, but sometimes reality is better than your dreams. Fountainhead is a fairytale of a place. It's steeped into the most dramatic mountain setting, and the accommodation is very bespoke, comfortable and beautiful in every detail. You get the feeling this place exists because it was conceived to out of love, like a long-term project that took a lot of effort to complete but in the end resulted into a unique and original offering, full of love itself. The food is outstanding, there is something magic about the way that it is created, because every dish is a dance of flavours
